How can you turn the business over to your children without creating chaos. This is probably the toughest question any business owner that has family working in the business will ever face. However, the answer is simple. The answer is… It depends. It depends on how well you (the owner) have prepared yourself and your child for this transition. Have you planned this out? Has your successor been trained, developed and prepared for the transition? In most cases privately held businesses generally have several family members working in the business. Pictures of the well known and well to do are flashed across TV screens and adorn glossy magazine covers daily. We love celebrity. We watch their every movement, daydream about what it is like to live the life. Wonder how they got there. For those that worked their way to the top and did not happen on some moment of circumstance leadership was part of the climb to the top.
When thinking of leaders it is not only the good that come to mind. History has provided us with plenty of both from which to choose. Some make us smile while others we wish to erase from the books. What style of leadership did they exemplify?

Does leadership begin when you are young?
What is the definition of a leader?
You are already a leader whether you are just starting out in your career or you have gained the top position in your workplace. Everyone at some point during the day will take on a leadership role. It could happen at work, at home, or as a volunteer. In fact, if you stop and think about yesterday, you can find many times when you were a leader and demonstrated leadership skills.
