Will Windows Xp Kill Windows Vista?

Microsoft’s recent strategy on Windows Vista is confusing. In one hand they wanted to promote Vista as the major operating system, in the other hand the know that Vista will somehow fail the mission without more proper improvements! But Microsoft has still decided to continue Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3), and delay the promotion of Vista. The Microsoft Windows Vista marketing team is struggling to force promotion on Vista, especially when the more stable, and even faster XP is on the way!

Therefore, the question is: why put all the effort to launch a new operating system while the older one is more reliable and faster? Microsoft has met his blind spot in the Windows long term strategy! Vista is designed with an advanced philosophy, to take advantages of new hardware, to provide better navigation experience, better gaming experience and better work environment. However, this is not what Microsoft good at! This is how apple think, this is what they do and very good at!

Microsoft is very good at dominating the market, this means compatibility, speed and flexibility. There is no room for fanciness and immature technology that will spoil the user experience! This is Microsoft attempts to integrate all good features from Google and Apple, but they just don’t have the technology yet. Furthermore, the result of stuffing all those immature technologies has created some very unpleasant experience for user!

XP will almost kill Vista with service pack 3 released, we can expect Vista sales drop dramatically in the following 3 to 6 months, unless Microsoft release services pack 2 within 6 months, and effectively speeds up Vista at least 20%, expected more Vista users will switch to XP or other operating systems.

Vista will survive for sure, because drop of hardware price and increase in performance will have safe Vista eventually, it’s just a matter of time. Microsoft should adjust it’s direction and focus the resources on one major operating system at a time, or this kind of situation will continue to haunt themselves and the users in every Windows launch…
